Spotted along the coast line were vinegar stations and 'croc' warning signs-this set the exciting/scary tone for the race ahead.

The atmosphere that you feel at an Ironman event was definatly present- triathletes filled up the entire city of Cairns as well as beautiful Palm Cove.

Race day started with pouring rain and athletes trudging through mud to get to their bikes to set up T1 (which was situated in Palm Cove- a 30min drive from Cairns T2). The two main athletes representing Shock were Elite Professional Male Lindsey Wall and Elite Age Group Athlete Justin MacMaster.

The race saw lots of twists and turns in the Professional male field- a field of which consisted of some of the best Professionals in the world. Lindsey Wall was able to dig deep through a tough race to finish in a respectable position and Justin MacMaster finshed his first ever 70.3 distance in a fiery time of 5 hours.

Typically when a 70.3 race finishes the massive set up begins to be peeled down after a big few days of set up, however there was still the main event only mearly beginning for the Ironman athletes. By this time the headwind had really picked up for athletes still out on the bike leg. It is admirable seeing athletes dig deep into a place of pain to pick themselves up emotionally and physically to push through a marathon and finish!

Congratulations to all competitors who raced Cairns Ironman and Cairns 70.3 this year. It was a great weekend and the team from Shock look forward to travelling back again!

Shock Ambassadors for 2015

We are excited to have a great team on board for the 2015-2016 season.
